Sawmill Relay

Taking place in the Humbolt-Toiyabe National Forest, this will be an epic adventure you don't want to miss! Bristlecone Events and Triple Dare Running are hosting a solo or relay race option in gorgeous Lee Canyon, Mt. Charleston. The relay is located on the Sawmill Trail with stunning views of the mountains!

Relay option

There are 3 loops to run; loop one 8.13, loop two 4.15, and loop three, 5.57 miler. All loops must be completed by each team member. The team member will finish 1 loop and then tag out to the next runner until all 3 loops by all 3 runners are completed. This totals 17.85 miles per person! 53.55 miles total per team!

The solo option

You can either do the ultra-marathon which is running the course twice, 35.7 miles, OR, running the course once, 17.85 miles!


Please download these maps if possible! Trails will be well marked but there is no cell service in this area!


There is dispersed camping around the staging area. Free of charge and 1st come, 1st serve. This is absolutely gorgeous and the smell of pine is all around!  For those that are camping, we will have fresh hot coffee, pancakes, eggs, and fruit!

From Las Vegas, drive north on Highway 95 to Lee Canyon Road. Turn left onto Lee Canyon Road and drive southwest for 12.9 miles to Sawmill Trailhead Access Road. Watch for signs along the highway. Turn right and drive northwest into the trailhead area.

Sawmill Area

The elevation is around 7,600 feet and the temperature for early June is around 69°/38°Farenheit.
Surrounded by wildflowers, gorgeous trees, and wildlife, the fresh crisp air is a nice escape from the city.  You will be running through a forest full of Arizon Skyrockets, Singleleaf Pinyon Pine, Utah Juniper, Curl Leaf Mountain Mohogany, Big Sagebrush, and annual flowers that change with throughout all the seasons. While running this gorgeous course, you may also observe the Juniper Titmouse, White-Tailed Antelope Squirrel, Black-Tailed Jackrabbit, Kit Fox, Palmer's Chipmunk, Panamint Chipmunk, Burrows, Desert Tortoise, Mule Deer, and the Western Scrunja.

Participants will be required to remain on the trails and within the course boundaries so as to not disturb the natural surroundings.

Runners need be conscious of the terrain and exercise care in foot placement. BLM waiver must be read and signed regarding the Desert Tortoise.


Aid stations will be loaded with water, electrolytes, and snacks. 


Participants traveling by air will arrive at McCarran International Airport.
